I finally have put together a layout of the design for our rebuild. The plans are straight-forward, but I’ll note the following: The Rooms are completely redesigned. No interior wall will be reused. We have instead taken this opportunity to re-layout the entire thing. Instead of a front room, kitchen, rec room in the back, we have decided to combine all of those into one. We have also added garage access to the house. The crowning achievement is a new master bath.(Before, we only had one bathroom). There are other minor changes, but I’ll leave that to you to see for yourselves…

Thanks to our great friends, we were able to tear out, tear out, dismantle, and destroy a good portion of the remaining items in the house that needed taken out. To all that were there, Thanks!!!

We will shortly begin the building process, so we are both excited and nervous for all the decisions needing made over the course of these next months.

Friends & Family An Update for the fire at our house.

We had a very long week. The first part consisted of going through all of our things and determining what was salvageable, what should be cleaned, and what was just not worth keeping. We had to get rid of a lot of things, and luckily there was a person from the insurance co. doing an inventory. The next part of our week was spent basically gutting our house. Almost all of the drywall, cabinets, appliances, etc. are being taken out, and some of the actual walls as well.

We did however, on saturday, have a group of people come over and do some demo on the house. This part at least was fun to do.

To everybody who has helped, offered help, prayed or thought of us during this time, we thank you. It has been wonderful experiencing the outpouring of compassion to us, and we look forward to moving on to rebuilding our home.

First, everybody’s OK.

Early this morning (3am) we were awoken to our neighbor banging on our front door desperately trying to wake us up. Not realizing what was happening, I got up out of bed to see what the commotion was all about. I opened the door from our bedroom and was overtaken by a thick wall of smoke that had formed in our living room. I turned and yelled for Tiff to get the dog and follow me. We ran as fast as we could (wearing only PJs and boxers) towards the front door to be met by our heroic neighbor who then ushered us to his house.

No word on the exact cause so far, but we are safe. We are now staying with my folks until we get things settled down, but it looks like we may have to either gut the house or knock it down, which may take up to 10-12 months. So we are beginning the process of figuring out all the details.

We are now thanking God for everything, and as fate would have it, Tiff just mentioned last night that she has been filled with a feeling of how faithful God is. We just didn’t know that He would need to be faithful like this…
